After a hectic week or so life is settling back to normal. Nan and Pop have been and gone - we had a lovely time during their brief visit and it was great for the kids to spend time with them. #2 took a little while to warm up to them, not too unnatural since she last saw them at Christmas and is still only little, but once she did she followed "Bop" around like a little shadow. #1 enjoyed lots of cuddles with Nan, as well as lots of games of Go Fish with both Nan and Pop.
While they were here I managed to sneak away and spend the morning being the parent helper in #1's classroom. I love being parent helper - you get to see the kids in action, check out what the teacher is really like, and of course decide which kids you definitely don't want your kid to be friends with! The highlight of the day was making parachutes out of freezer bags with the kids but even better than that was #1 bringing home a "Star Of The Day" certificate declaring him to have been "a shining star all day long" and praising his good listening. We were pretty darn proud! It has been blu-tacked to the kitchen cupboard for all to see.
I can see from the comments about the photos of the birthday party that I am going to have to post pics of myself more often! I could seriously grow to love you guys telling me how good I look. The words I'd most commonly use would be old and haggard but cute and petite work a treat for me! BTW - I think if you saw the rest of me you'd probably revise that opinion, in the meantime I'll just stay hidden behind kids and tables LOL.
I'm off to look at recipe books. I haven't done any real cooking for a while and I miss it badly. I have some sour cream that needs using and I also have a couple of past-their-due-date bananas that need to be made into some sort of cake-type creation. I'll let you know what I come up with tomorrow.

I have a fantastic banana cake recipe if you want it. I made it for Ella's birthday cake this week (same day as #2!) and it was all gobbled up in a couple of days.
I'll put it on my blog :-)
PS. Happy Birthday #2, #2!
I have a delicious banana cake recipe too on my 'recipe blog'. Yum. And banana bread too which is simple and tasty. But any money you have a trillion beautiful banana recipes yourself.
I miss baking/cooking too. Usually after I have been away or people come to stay I don't get to 'exercise in the kitchen' as much as I normally do. I just returned from a grocery shop where I spent our money on ingredients for 7 lovely meals...
Thanks ladies - I found something different to try, not sure I'd make it again but at least I tried something new.
Yes please to the recipe offer, Trish. I'll take all the new recipes I can get!
You're right Melody - I have a bunch of banana recipes, it was just a matter of finding the right one for today. But, I'm off to check out yours too!
I put it on my blog - it's over there on the right hand side, down the bottom, under (stuff) and called What's Cooking?
Thankyou Trish.
