Ups And Downs

I tried a couple of new recipes today but neither ended up being worth sharing. One was a pan cookie - not something I'd tried before - and I was really looking forward to it but... it was in the oven a minute or so too long and dried right out, and just didn't end up being that nice. For dinner I tried a Chicken and Leek Pasta Bake from an issue of Donna Hay Magazine and it was nice enough but it seemed like it was missing something. The kids scoffed it down so it can't have been too bad, it just didn't turn out as great as I'd anticipated.

In other news, Offspring #1 has been attending vacation swimming lessons this week and... he LOVES it. Long time readers may recall that swimming lessons have never been on his list of 'favourite things to do' so we are thrilled that he's enjoying his lessons and doing so well. He's working very hard on straight arms and turning his head to breathe. At the moment he has to keep stopping so can get a breathe, then he pops his head back in the water and powers off, crookedly, but powering nonetheless.

Added to that... #1 has his first wobbly tooth. He went from being overjoyed to terrified in the space of about 4 seconds. He was convinced that he was in overwhelming pain and was unable to move his mouth or speak. When we finally got it through his head that it didn't hurt, he could talk and that all was well with the world he 'fessed up that he thought we were going to pull his tooth out RIGHT NOW! We calmed him down from that one and sent him to bed amid much head shaking and muttering. Geez, drama queen much?

I bet I know what pan cookie recipe didn't turn out! We're still eating our Snickerdoodle pan cookies and they're still pretty good a few days later. I tend to 'underbake' cookies and bars since that's how I like them.

Oh, so you didn't tell him if it doesn't come out in the next 2 days, you'll tie a piece of string from the tooth to the doorknob, and slam the door? He's going to be a bit upset when he finds out about that!

Right... time for a telling off ;-)

Those bloody Peanut cup thingies - I was in the video shop last night, they were on the counter, and I was compelled to buy the bloomin' things! Almost as if I'd been aware of them already - as if I was familiar with them - like we'd 'chomped' a little time together or something!

And for the life of me, even AFTER I'd had a bite (and THAT was really bizarre as I'd never had them them before - but I could have SWORN that I'd had them somewhere before!) I couldn't place the bloody things... I couldn't tell the XO, why they were so familiar to me.

Until I tripped over them again on that post you made here lol! Complete with a very loud AH-HA! Did you know the power you had with subliminal advertising hmmm???

Very funny - if not just a little weird - lol ;-)

You guessed right, Paula :)

LOL Chantalle - is this supposed to demonstrate the care and compassion you show to your students?????

Thanks Sam. It's still wobbling - a week later.

Bwa ha ha, Ron (that was an evil laught btw!) Sorry. Now, if I could just get advertisers to pay me for that subliminal stuff...

Oh Iris, I wouldn't really slam the door on him! I'd make his Dad do it... Yes, I AM joking
