A Day On The River

The house is in dire need of some attention and cleaning so when Hubby asked if I wanted to spend the day in the boat on the river I was easily persuaded to join him. Some of you might remember that I'm not too keen on boats but spending time on our (really rather small) boat on the ocean and in the river is completely different and I, along with Hubby and the kids, had a wonderful time.

We were going to head up the river, let the kids have a go at fishing and then have a picnic lunch but once we were on the boat we decided to head down the river and towards the city instead.

We ended up going all the way into the city and it was great fun to see the city up close from the river.

Along the way we wandered up the canals in East Perth and exclaimed over the gorgeous (and very expensive) houses.

Heading back up the river we came across a deserted park that had a fabulous playground and decided that it was the perfect place to stop for lunch. The kids ran off some energy while Hubby and I read the paper before we tucked into sandwiches and fruit.

Once back on the boat we pulled off to the side of the river and and the kids did a spot of fishing. #1 caught a couple of Blowies, #2 caught nothing but did so very enthusiastically!

By then we were all starting to feel the effects of a sunny day on the river and decided it was time to head back to the car. Poor Offspring #2 couldn't quite make it that far and fell asleep bouncing around in the boat.

We had such a lovely day and I promise that I'll be heading out on the boat again sooner rather than later.

Hi. Looks like you had a fun day. It was a lovely day for it. My two ran around under the sprinkler for a couple of hours.

Fun, fun, fun. I always wanted a boat and go down the Yarra, but I think the Swan looks much more appealing...

How excitement! You lucky buggers... Good onya Mandi - nothing like being on the water (or under it) to fair wear you out!

The XO got a day to herself that day, and we pottered about just taking it easy. Wasn't a bad day wandering about at all - nothing compared to yours though lol ;-)
